Our Story and Origin

● How and why did we (our team) start working on this idea / enterprise? Were there any personal triggers? Why is working towards this idea important to you? Is there something in particular about this issue that makes it important for us to solve it?
This motivation and idea comes 4 years before in year 2012 when one of the Co-founder was on rural internship and rural field exposure during his 1st year at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. ...
The aim and ambition of this rural visit exposure was: Like
● To understand the life of villagers, what and how they are earning, what are the challenges and problems are facing by them in their life?
● What are the problems in agriculture practices?
● How much are the farmers earn from traditional agriculture activity?
● And, if we find any problem in the society then can we think on that problem to find out the solution or any other alternative to that one? And as a social entrepreneur how can I or we or anyone solve that problem with our entrepreneurial approach.
So, these entire questions were in promoter’s mind during the visit and he was also looking for an opportunity for himself as well as for the society welfare. And, at last the promoter observes and identified an opportunity out of a societal problem and came up with an Idea and solution of the problem. What was that…….?
About Jhabua, MP: (Main Point)
● Jhabua is a tribal dominated area where agriculture is the main income source, highly rain dependent
● Highly Drought-Prone / Degraded waste land /with population of 10 lakh (Census of India 2011)
● Suffers from high rate of illiteracy / poverty / majority of the population (87.67%) lives below the poverty line and one of the most backward district of Madhya Pradesh
● A no. of social problems : Because of poverty and unawareness
● Root Cause of poverty: lack of employment / no income source
● Unwilling Migration happened in search of income source
Existing solutions are not effective enough for their socio-economic development. Therefore, these people are still living in poverty. On the other hand these are not well educated and don’t have any special skills to get a good job opportunity (if any). Therefore, it is required to be done something over there for the upliftment of the society.
Then we came up with a problem statement, idea and solution.
● Problem: (Unemployment vs. Poverty).
● Idea: (Create Employments opportunity with local resources and fostering Rural Entrepreneurship), &
● Solution: (Introduce the concept of Kadaknath on Commercialization).
At last, after discussing with another co-founder we together decided to work on it for full time. After completing master Degree M.A. in Social Entrepreneurship from TISS, Mumbai (2012-14) we came back to Jhabua and restart our work on planning and strategy, execution and designing the workable model in tribal dominated remote area.
We did a lot of research work on the idea development and execution. After, working one and half year on our idea, pilot testing and validating the idea and potential of the Kadaknath poultry farming and business we incorporated our company, TaankBrothers Ventures Pvt. Ltd. in January 29, 2016 and now with Kadaknathji.com
